About Me

Hello and Welcome to Artymko Violin Studio!

My name is Callina and I am the instructor at this studio offering high-quality classical violin and fiddle lessons one on one with you!

I've been playing violin since the age of 7 and grew up with a passion for music.  In rural Alberta we were lucky to have a busy folk music scene and a remarkable fiddle teacher who got me started and eventually offered me my first job teaching violin.  As I outgrew her instruction and moved onto furthering my classical music skills I never lost my roots in fiddle music.

Through Allyson Lyne of Edmonton I received a thorough education in Classical violin, and continue to develop my own skills under her tutelage.  I have had the opportunity over the years to perform for weddings, funerals, and various other gigs playing classical music, and I always love to watch people dance along to my music.

I began teaching violin and fiddle in 2013 as part of the "Fiddlin' Kiddlin's" as a group teacher, as well as a few private students of my own.  Since then I have continued to teach in the Vegreville Area, as well as Sherwood Park and surrounding areas.  With 10 years of experience teaching I have come to love the opportunity to watch students of all ages grow to learn a new instrument and play things they never thought they could!

In a typical lesson with me, students can expect to split their time between learning to read music, violin technique, and learning songs.  I love to find the unique learning style of each student to help them pick up a new instrument quickly, while keeping things light and fun.  Typically a beginner's lesson would include time to practice music reading, =then time where we review old songs, and finally time to learn a new song or continue working on a current piece.  Intermediate and advanced students can expect me to help them on posture and proper technique, scales and music theory, as well as performance skills.

I currently reside with my husband in our hobby farm in central Alberta. We grow a big garden, milk a cow, and have lots of chickens and turkeys!
